Hrdlička, Jan ; Slomek, Jaromír (advisor) ; Osvaldová, Barbora (referee)
This thesis deals with a not very well-known topic - it analyses the journalistic and publicist work of Ladislav Smoljak in the print media, especially in the magazine Mladý svět. It aims to reveal how Smoljak approached his work as a journalist, what were the specific features of his work, with what topics he dealt, and to what extent he contributed to the image of the magazine. I also include an article bibliography of Ladislav Smoljak during his time at the editorial office of Mladý svět. In the theoretical part, I present Smoljak's biography together with an outline of the historical context and a description of the Czechoslovak media scene of the time. The practical part then analyses Smoljak's texts and assesses his role in the magazine.

Digital library of the Czech Academy of Sciences
Šlapáková, Ivana
The CAS Digital Library has been compiled since 2003. During that time it has come to include 180 titles of periodicals and over 2,700 monographs primarily from CAS institute output. Since 2016 the Digital Library has also included the full texts of original digital (‘’born digital’’) documents, and now contains over 8,300 documents of this kind. Kramerius software is used to make the Digital Library available to users. The Digital Library is accessible at http://kramerius.lib.cas.cz/client. Metadata entries for the Digital Library are created in the ALEPH system and in the ProArc metadata editor. Entry compilation has been under way in ALEPH since 2013, with 24,000 entries compiled in it to date. Entries are compiled retrospectively to 1999. Compilation in ProArc began in 2016, and the retrospection currently extends to 2005. Metadata entries in both systems are used in the CAS Digital Library, where they are interlinked with the full texts of periodicals.\n

(in English): The aim of presented master thesis is to suggest the optimization of articles processing in the Digital Library of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The present state of journal articles processing is described and the weaknesses are evaluated. The journal articles processing optimization is suggested in two steps. The first step is to choose only one integrated library system for journal articles processing. The second step is using the system of shared cataloging and the proper use of three external resources. The main contribution of this thesis is the deep evaluation of the external journal articles records resources and the process of shared cataloging. Fifteen journals were proposed to the process of shared cataloging and record downloading but only five of them are suitable for this process.
Bibliography of the review Proměny (Metamorphoses) from 1964 to 1979.
Valtrová, Martina ; Holý, Jiří (advisor) ; Merhaut, Luboš (referee)
ABSCTRACT The present thesis deals with the magazine Proměny, quarterly of The Society for Science and Arts, mapping the first seven years of its existence (1964-1970), i.e. the period under the editorship of Ladislav Radimský. The original plan was to create an annotated bibliography for the first fifteen volumes; however, it became obvious during the research that the amount of the material would largely exceed the length of a bachelor thesis. The commentary focuses on the years 1964-1970 as well; nevertheless, it also briefly outlines the whole time span of the magazine's publication as well as the whole existence of The Society for Science and Arts. The thesis analyzes Proměny in the light of the historical and cultural context, comparing it with other exile journals. The main part of the thesis is the annotated bibliography, accompanied with the author and subject indexes.
The One Book of Jakub Deml, Bedřich Fučík and Vladimír Binar
Iwashita, Daniela
This contribution reviews, and reflects on, the idea of a single, unified book and other metaphors of holistic work (the work as a tree, the Tasov landscape, the Oslava river) which constantly recur in Deml’s writings: what can they mean for the reader and the editors of his work today? The contributor focuses on a solution worked out and justified by Bedřich Fučík and Vladimír Binar in the samizdat edition of The Work of Jakub Deml (13 volumes, VBF Manuscripts, Prague 1978–1983) and in the accompanying Report on the Compilation of the Work of Jakub Deml (VBF Manuscripts, Prague 1981). The contributor reviews the well-known shortcomings of The Work, especially its reduction of a number of texts, but notes with approval its organizing principles which correspond to Deml’s own approach to writing and publication: such as the pursuit of cyclical chronology; the recognition of the central, recurrent books; the organization of individual volumes along generic lines; the readerly and artistic character of the books. The contribution goes on to identify the editorial measures and procedures established by The Work editors which are equally valid for us today: such as the need for detailed mapping of Deml’s editorial and publishing practices; the need to respect and privilege the author’s will; the need for compilation and publication of all bibliography (including contributions to journals and magazines); the need for the widest possible research into extant manuscripts and correspondence (today this applies above all to the ordering and detailed description of a part of Deml’s writings deposited in the Literary Archive of The Museum of Czech Literature in Prague, which comprises thousands of mixed-up pages from manuscripts of various books, including Forgotten Light); further, the need for mapping Deml’s publishing notices and leaflets; the publication of a detailed schedule of all his writings, and, last but not least, the willingness to accept external review and criticism. In conclusion the contributor proposes a solution for the future: the publication of a hybrid edition which would consist of an electronic critical edition (including an archive of all extant versions together with instruments for their comparison) in parallel with a readerly publication of Deml’s work in book format which would be based on texts in the critical edition and organized roughly in accordance with the principles and overall conception of Fučík’s and Binar’s samizdat Work, even if significantly extended.
